Leica Metal Gray Camera Variations and Accessories
Metal Gray expands the Leica portfolio with an additional colour option that is deliberately aligned with the existing design language. The tone was carefully selected by our designers to ensure a consistent integration across all camera lines while complementing the classic finishes in black and silver. Leica has already introduced this colour successfully within the Smart Projection business unit with the Cine Play 1, where it has proven to be a fitting extension of the product design. Metal Gray is an established tone within the premium segment and is widely recognized for its understated and modern appearance.
The durability of the Metal Gray paint finish is comparable to that of the black lacquer finish. It meets the same standards in everyday use and reflects Leica’s established approach to surface quality and longevity. Over time, the surface will develop a patina like that known from black-lacquered surfaces. This is a natural characteristic of lacquered surfaces and contributes to the individual appearance of each camera.
Metal Gray is introduced as a standard colour within the Leica portfolio and is not subject to production limitations. It is intended as a permanent addition alongside the existing finishes.
The Metal Gray finish is based on a hand-applied lacquer process. A carefully defined layer thickness is essential to achieve the desired metallic character of the surface. This process requires a high level of expertise to ensure a consistent and precise result across all components.
